Project Blue Horse

Project Blue Horse is a charity initiative which has been developed by the staff of Roberts Rural Supplies to help raise funds for beyondblue: the national depression initiative in support of their efforts to address the impact of depression and anxiety directly related to drought conditions within rural communities across Australia.

The project involves adopting a horse from owners who have found themselves in a position of being financially unable to care for it. Roberts' experienced and dedicated equine staff are currently nurturing "Voodelle", an 8 year old thoroughbred mare, and bringing her back to health at Roberts Rural Supplies' Bridgewater site, twenty minutes north of Hobart. Once Voodelle has reached a point where she is deemed fit and healthy, anticipated to be at the end of August, she is to be sold to a successful bidder at a silent auction, with all proceeds being donated to beyondblue. Tom Adams, Marketing Manager, Roberts Rural Supplies said "Successive years of dry conditions in Tasmania's midlands area has placed enormous pressure on available feed for stock. Many breeds of animals suffer the effects of such conditions including equine. The idea of adopting a horse and nursing it back to health has been the initiative of dedicated staff at our Bridgewater store, which is operating in an area hit hard by the dry conditions. Several of our suppliers have provided product to assist with the feeding and wellbeing of the horse.
