Bendigo Hosts First Central Victorian Horse Expo
An exciting program of horse trainers, presenters, equine-related businesses and exhibitors have been locked in for the first ever Expo of its kind – the National Equine Expo on 21 and 22 November 2009 at the Prince of Wales Showgrounds to be held in the most central horse capital of Victoria – Bendigo.
The Bendigo Agricultural Show Society in conjunction with the Bendigo Equine Industry Cluster have been working around the clock to secure performers, trainers and riders who will draw in an estimated 5000-10,000 people to the event. If its success is as predicted, this fantastic horse Expo will become a permanent feature on central Victorian calendar every two years. A full program of internationally renowned trainers and riders will offer a continuous flow of activity from 9am to 5pm over the weekend and those who don’t want to miss out on seeing their favourite performers can attend both days as ticket prices are intentionally affordable to make the event as accessible as possible. Program highlights include Steve Jeffreys, the man well known all over the country for opening the Sydney 2000 Olympics on his rearing horse Ammo giving two exciting performances on both days. Carlos Tabernaberri will present his methods of natural horsemanship and behaviour training along with classical dressage Professor Manolo Mendez, Andrew and Warwick McLean from the Australian Equine Behaviour Centre, Para Olympian Georgia Bruce, Charlotte Pedersen a Grand Prix level dressage rider and a debut presentation by local trainer David Mellor. “The talent we have been lucky enough to secure is a testimony to the amazing skill base we have available in our country and the Expo will give all horse lovers and businesses an opportunity to share information, and enjoy a wide range of shopping for both new and known brands” said Rob Bogumil, the Chair of the National Equine Expo Committee. {sidebar id=3}Trade sites are selling fast and an educational program with equine practitioners of every kind will run all day, along with outdoor working displays of western riding disciplines featuring David and Courtney Norbury, carriage driving by the Central Highlands Carriage Driving Club and a number of breed displays. A professionally produced fashion parade highlighting the latest clothing available will feature on the program. Sponsors to the event include The Weekly Times, Regional Development Victoria, the City of Greater Bendigo, Bendigo Agricultural Show Society, the Bendigo Equine Industry Cluster, Country Racing Victoria, VLine and local businesses too numerous to mention.
