Freddy Bear is a been done that, done that fella. He is a Percheron x, roughly 16.2hh and aged 19 (however due to no paperwork we cannot be sure).
I am selling this horse with my friend, Kat, the owner of this big bear.
Originally Freddy was an RDA horses for numerous years at Doveton. Unfortunately Freddy was retired from the RDA due to slight blindness in his left eye caused by an eye abscess (utterly healed prior to my purchase). His RDA career ended in 2015 where we he was restrained by Sally Francis at Tooradin Estate and my friend Kat was gifted him in 2016 to get her confidence up after a horrible horse riding accident that left her hospitalised and traumatised. Since then Freddy has really helped Kat build up her confidence and now she is ready to move on to her own personal unicorn. Kat has decided to sell him on because she feels he still has so much to offer someone whether it’s building someone’s confidence like he did for her. The RDA training means that he is really trained to work with people with different types of needs whether they are physical or emotional.
Freddy is really a plodder, super relaxed and suits someone who isn’t going to want to push him to go fast. He can liven up but it does take a lot of motivation for him to move faster than a slow jog. Ideally he would suit someone wanting to plod him around a trail, do some natural horsemanship and honestly have a mate for life.
Freddy is the ultimate low-maintenance horse. He wears rugs but doesn’t need them because he often becomes sweaty and too hot. Freddy is barefoot trimmed and maintains his weight exceptionally well.
Whilst Freddy is priced to sell and negotiable really home is not. Kat did try to re-home earlier this year however the home was not suitable for him due to her not being financial stable and able to care for him. Upon his return Kat had a full and thorough vet check on him from Elite Equine and Kat is happy to give the report to potential buyers. But your own vet check is welcomed and encouraged - you are better off having peace of mind in this climate.
So what Kat is really looking for is someone who is financially able to take him but also willing to invest some real love in this horse that has truly been beneficial to Kat’s mental and emotional health. At the moment I am using him as a grazer and companion horse, whilst he doesn’t mind the lazy life he really deserves to be someone’s rock like he has been for Kat.
Kat also has a western saddle roper as well that was fitted to him professionally.
