Nova (AKA Princess Nova) looking for her new person. Happiest when in work and being fussed over, unfortunately her current owner just cannot give her the time she deserves and quite honestly, for no real reason, they just never really clicked (as she did with past horses). An ideal Adult riders mount, Nova would suit someone who wants a horse for a bit of ARC and trail riding. At 16.1hh and 15 years, Nova is by Warmblood, Northern Ariel out of a TB mare (she is not registered but, we understand she can be) Nova is probably past her jumping days (an occasional pop over a log would be fine) and would excel in a dressage, pleasure environment. Perfectly behaved when out at riders’ club, clinics etc. She will stand in a yard or by the float all day (especially if you give her a biscuit of hay). The challenges! So let’s be upfront here…..Nova is a 15yo Chestnut warmblood mare, so she can occasionally have an opinion (nothing evil and is fixed by a short lunge) which in the past has shown up when she has not been in work. She is at an age where she does need some care to keep everything working well but regular Rosehip Vital seems to do the trick. Nova also needs careful shoeing as she does have a paddle with her front, nearside, foot, so needs to be shod accordingly (to keep in as straight as possible). She does like horse company when paddocked (much more settled), but doesn’t give a rats about leaving them behind to be ridden or taken out. Nova also has old superficial scars on her legs, so won’t make a high level, royal show pony but she scrubs up well and could do pretty well at HRCAV or similar. The good! Nova is a sensible type and while not for beginners, she would be described as a quiet school master and definitely has more whoa than go, but will be nicely forward when asked (you may have to carry a dressage whip occasionally). She is much happier when she knows you are the boss and “have her back”. So a firm, but kind, approach brings out her best (otherwise she has the potential to turn into a bossy individual). A educated and previously (not by current owner) competed allrounder she has attended lots of Adult riding, clinics etc however due to the current (50 something) owner’s workload and the whole COVID thing, she hasn’t done much over the last couple of years. She is great to catch, tie, saddle, float etc, (very) good doer, requires a firm but gentle hand to make her shine. No buck, bolt or rear. We are looking for the best home this girl deserves. Nova, has been brought back into work by a young FEI rider and has been perfect from day one with no naughty or nasty at all.
